5 Musical Instruments without which Bollywood Movies would be Mundane

There is an inevitable connection between the Bollywood heroes and musical instruments. Be it the piano, the guitar or the drums, our heroes of Bollywood have played them all. But the Bollywood heroes seem to have some specific favorites when it comes to musical instruments.

The Badshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan has played all kinds of musical instruments, but he has a special thing for guitars. From acoustic to electric he has played them all in most of his movies like Pardes, Baadshah, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain and Jab Taak Hain Jaan. One of the lesser known instruments in the musical family the mandolin was quite neglected till Raj in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge started playing it. No wonder, the strings touched the right chord of every woman who simply swoons over his charm.

Yuvraj, one of the lesser-known hits of Subhash Ghai, was a musical drama which portrayed the story of three estranged brothers. The plot was not substantial enough to grab the attention of the audience, but the beautiful Katrina Kaif playing the chello was indeed a treat for the eyes. Anil Kapoor gave one of his fine performances in this movie, and his soulful compositions in the piano simply remain unforgettable.

Another musical instrument which has been used frequently in Bollywood movies is the drums.

The sequence where Shahrukh and Madhuri Dixit matched tunes is simply unforgettable. It was not just about matching steps with the King Khan’s beats in the drum, the whole sequence taught us that a way to a woman’s heart by is playing the right beat/chord at the right time.

The jazz numbers in Bollywood are incomplete without the saxophone, but a Salman Khan playing the saxophone in Maine Pyar Kiya takes the musical instrument to a different level. There can be only one Salman Khan who can play the saxophone effortlessly on screen and make Bhagyashree restless.

If Rishi Kapoor has taught us anything, it is that violin can evoke long-lost memories. Karz, one of the biggest hits of Mr. Kapoor has given us enough reasons to fall in love with this musical instrument which requires a lot of skill to play. If Rishi had charm, Shahrukh played the violin effortlessly and made us crave for more.
