7 Movies Based on Science and Innovations

When it comes to science and innovations, Hollywood has never hesitated to experiment and mix science and imagination. Most of them have been a great hit while some the audience could not take. Here are the top 7 movies based purely on science and innovation.

Interstellar (2014)

It is a sci-fi adventure film, starring Mathew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway,Jessica Chastain.

The movie is set in the backdrop of a dystopian (but quite likely) future.

Even though at its core it is a scientific fiction, the plot is riddled with themes of fatherly love, trust and action.

Gravity (2013)

Gravity starring the ever-so-handsome George Clooney and America’s Sweetheart Sandra Bullock is a science fiction to watch. The two are stranded in space in a damaged shuttle trying their best to make their way home alive. With unexpected plot twists and a fabulous screenplay, easily the best work of Director Alfonso Cuarón.

Lucy (2014)

This sci-fi thriller starring Scarlet Johansson and Morgan Freeman,

Was and still is quite the attention grabber. The storyline features an unwilling drug mule, in whose stomach a new, high-tech drug is released, which causes her to gain superhuman powers (and knowledge).

Fabulous screenplay and direction, complemented by the perfect casting made for a movie which never quite grew old.

Tomorrow Land(2015)

George Clooney seems unforgettable, starring in another movie on the list, alongside Hugh Laurie and Britt Robertson in a Disney film.

Clooney plays an “ex”- inventor, on a quest to save the world from being destroyed by his old mentor, a true nail-biter.

Quite unexpected maybe but the movie is based on scientific fiction, although it is kiddish, it is the perfect movie to get your mind off of something. Director Brad Bird fails to dissatisfy once again.

Megamind (2010)

The only animated film on the list, but it packs a mean punch.

Starring Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hills, David Cross and Brad Pitt the movie is nothing short of amazing, and it is expected, coming from Director Tom McGrath.

The storyline features an evil mastermind from outer space, who’s bored of his competition, and a hero who is bored of saving the world.

2001 a Space Time Odyssey (1968)

A blast from the past, one of the most renowned works of Stanley Kubrick is this movie. Partially based on the novel by Arthur C. Clarke- “The Sentinel” this movie is a must watch starring Keir Duella and Garry Lockwood.

The Space Time Odyssey is a thrilling fictional account of the battle between man and artificial intelligence.

No matter how old the movie is, its theme is still quite relevant and relatable and the movie is a must watch.

The Theory Of Everything (2014)

This is a biopic in the memory of Stephen Hawking himself.

It isn’t strictly science fiction, but also has the themes of Drama and Romance.

Starring Felicity Jones, Charlie Cox, Eddie Redmayne, Emily Watson and Simon McBurney, this biopic is immensely touching, a showcase of true love and human triumph.

A must watch in every sense of the word.
