Let’s see what we have in store, shall we?
1. The Sanjay Dutt Biopic
Ever since Ranbir Kapoor’s picture, all decked and duped as Sanjay Dutt was released for the world to see, there has been quite a buzz about this flick. As obvious as it can be, it is the life of Sanjay Dutt – the real mafia of Bollywood- and is expected to release in the first half of the coming year.
Under the direction of Abhishek Kapur, we shall see Amrita Rao and Saif Ali khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan debuting in this one. Sushant Singh Rajput shall play a romantic role along with the star debut. Not much has been spilled about the storyline except for that Sushant would be a tour guide who carries the old and ailing to the holy place. Sara, in turn shall fall in love with our man.The tagline of the movie, quite quirky, says “Love is a Pilgrimage.”
Akshay Kumar is back at it again! The man who stated signing sensible movies only after being threatened by his wife, did it quite right. Padman is based on the story of a man, Arunachalam Muruganantham, who created the world’s first low-cost machine for making sanitary napkins. A primary social issue, the female hygiene and health would be dealt with in a cinematic manner to reach the earn the maximum possible viewership.
4. Chanda Mama Door Ke
Like you do not judge a book by its cover, do not take this one for its name. Another Sushant starrer, this one could possibly be our very own home-grown “interstellar” so to speak of. Rajput would be acting as an astronaut and has reportedly even been to NASA for some special training. Would it be all worth? Only time will tell!
This one, set to release in late April of 2018, is about the life of queen warrior Rani Lakshmi Bai played by Kangana Ranaut. For long have been our Bollywood directors and actors showing love to the idea of such a biopic but director Krish went out of the way to actually make it happen. Ankita Lokhande, the silver screen star, shall debut in Manikarnika as Jhalkari Bai.
6. Race 3
Race, as a movie, has one of the most commendable fan base – and why should it not really? The movie has suspense, glamour, thrill, humor and the most irresistible Bolly tunes of all times. The earlier versions were shot by Abbas Mustan but Race 3 will be directed under Remo D Souza and would observe Salman Khan in the lead and Bobby Deol in a pivotal role unlike the earlier versions. It is expected to release on Eid 2018.
Neeraj Pandey, the director of some big time hits like Baby and MS Dhoni is back with this one next year in what is apparently a real life story again. The crime drama would be led by Siddhart Malhotra and Manoj Bajpaye. The movies is based on the story of two military men, a mentor and a follower. It is reported to release on the Republic Day of the country.
Well, Akshay Kumar is really on a streak in 2018. This one too is aimed to ablaze on the patriotic spirit of the country. With Mouni Roy in her debut, Gold tells the tale of Independent India’s first Olympic Gold medal at the XIV Olympiad Games, London in 1948. We have Gold set for an Independence Day release.
