Bollywood & the Recreated Songs- Yay or Nay

Serving old wine in new bottle has been a trick that Bollywood music directors have always kept up their sleeves and 2017 and 2018 looks like the best time to serve those old wines in newly polished glasses. We have all loved and grooved to this number and all the Music Directors had to do is to remix the already popular numbers.

Laila Main Laila- Raees
Haven’t we all loved Sunny Leonne grooving seductively to the old Hindi number which was once immortalized by Zeenat Aman. While we all loved the song, it signaled a new era in Bollywood, an era of remix or re-engineered songs.

Tamma Tamma- Badrinath ki Dulhania
What happens when a popular disco number from the 80’s by the Disco king himself is reworked and the young dancing stars like Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt gets to dance to it! Well the result is definitely magical and this song is proof enough.

Ban Ja Tu Meri Rani- Tumhari Sullu
The most striking thing about this movie is perhaps this song. Even though the movie did not make a mark but this one song hit the chartbusters and reigned for quite many weeks. Guru Randhawa recreated his old number for this movie and bang! It was a huge hit. This movie also had a recreated Hawa Hawai in its kitty

Sara Zamana- Kaabil
We have all loved it when Urvashi Rautela set the floor on fire with this old Yaraana number with a touch of Raftaar to it in Kaabil. Kaabil also had the recreated version of Dil Kya Kare from Julie.

Mere Rashqe Kamar- Badshaaho
One song that the entire nation has been humming for quite some time is surely, Mere Rashqe Kamar from Badshaaho. This Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan number has been wonderfully recreated in this movie and needless to say, it has been loved by all.

The list however doesn’t end here. There are many recreations of old songs which deserves a mention in our list, like the Humma Song in Ok! Jaanu, Har Kisiko Nahi Milta in Boss, Sanu Ekpal Chain Na Aye in the upcoming Ajay Devgn starred Raid, or the numbers like Dil Chori Sada Ho Gaya or Chote chote Peg mar in Sonu Ki Titu ki Sweety. Another song that is slowly climbing to the top is the recreated version of Ashique Banaya Apne from Hate Story 4.
As the trend of recreating songs is on the surge in Bollywood, share your thoughts if you are all ok with the trend or you believe it is restricting the music creativity of Bollywood?
