Flop movies with Hit Songs!

Songs are an integral part of every movie. In the olden movies we could see that there used to be many songs which were of long duration. So since then songs are a medium to convey one’s feelings. Now, though there are fewer songs with lesser duration, but a few are so good that they leave behind deep imprints in our mind. The current strategy is, if the storyline seems a bit weak, then to attract people and earning revenue is through promoting the famous peppy or romantic songs.
Let’s have a list of such movies that went flop but the songs were a hit!

1.Barsaat (1995)

Barsaat was a sweet love story where Badal falls in love with Tina his classmate who was rich. Since her father disapproved of them, they had to face many struggle.
The famous songs were: Humko Sirf tumse pyaar, Nahi yeh ho Nahi sakta, Love tujhe love.

2.Refugee (2000)

In this movie, Abhishek plays the role of refugee who helps a family to relocate to Pakistan since they are forced to do so. In the process he falls in love with one of the daughters. The movie was with a fresh concept but it bombed in the market.
The famous songs were: Panchi nadiya, Aisa Lagta Hai, Mere Humsafar.

3.Yaadein (2001)

It’s a movie about Jackie Shroff’s three daughters who are to be married off. It shows the effects of love and arranged marriage of two sisters and how the third, Kareena falls in love with Hrithik and their struggle thereafter. The movie didn’t do well in the box office but their onscreen chemistry was much talked about.
The famous songs were: Nagme hai shikvey hai, Jab Dil mile, Aye Dil-Dil Ki Duniya Mein.

It is a slow movie about a guy who accidently kills a guy in an accident, and when he goes to confess to the family, he eventually falls in love with that guys’ fiancée. Though the movie failed, but Jagjit Singh gave us evergreen number to hum forever.
The famous songs were: Tum Bin, Koi Fariyaad.

It is a story of three friends who solve their family issues, marital troubles and dating dilemma in two months showing their successful product launch.

The famous songs were: Suno na, Tu Ashiqui Hai, Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna

6.Kuch Toh Hai (2003)

It was a horror movie directed by Anurag Basu. It’s about a group of friends who accidently throw one of their professors off the cliff and years later when they reunite, some mysterious killer follows them.
The famous songs were: Kya Pyar Karoge Mujhse, Hai Re.

7.Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon (2003)

A story where a misconception of name make the girl fall for the wrong guy. Too much a confusion with ‘Prem’ in the movie. An over enthusiastic Hrithik, a simple Kareena and a classy Abhishek, tried their well to sail the boat but couldn’t.
The famous songs were: Kasam ki kasam, Ladka yeh kehta hai, Papa ki Pari.

8.Krishna Cottage (2004)

Again a horror movie, which is based on college goers who decide to spend a night at a cottage
But little do they know that there is a spirit there. Later we see the spirit comes to life and reminds one of them of their past together. Too much right?
The famous song was: Bepanah pyar hai.

9.Jaan-e-mann (2006)

Salmaan is an aspiring actor in the movie, who elopes with Preity but she files a divorce later. The problem arises when Akshay come in between claims his love for Preity.
The famous songs were: Humko maalum hai, Sau Dard hai, Ajnabee Sheher Hai

10.Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007)

It’s the same old story about two people talking to each other throughout the day about their partners but instead fall in love with each other. Could it be worse?
The famous songs were: Jhoom Barabar, Bol na halke

11.Saawariya (2007)



This movie’s story will blow your mind. In the movie, Ranbir plays a free-spirited artist who falls in love with Sonam, but she keeps on dismissing his gestures. When he confesses his love to her, she reveals that she is in love with somebody else.
The famous songs were: Saawariya, Jab se tere naina, Masha-Allah, Thode Badmaash, Yoon Shabnami

12.Yuvvraaj (2008)

It is about three brothers; one of them has special needs. Their deceased father leave all the wealth for the challenged brother because of which the other two plan and plot to get hold of the wealth. The movie was a huge flop.
The famous songs were: Tu meri dost hai, Tu muskuraa.

13.Anjaana Anjaani (2010)

By watching this movie you wonder what made Ranbir select such a script! It’s about a guy who is about to commit suicide where he meets the girl who is heartbroken. They decide everything they ever wanted to do before ending their lives.

The famous songs were: Anjaana Anjaani, Hairat, Aas paas hai Khuda, Tujhe Bhula diya

14.Lootera (2013)

Though Vikramaditya Motwane tried to come up with a new look and script, but the movie failed because it was too slow. It is a story of an Aristocrats daughter who falls for an archaeologist but eventually learns that he leads a dual life and is left heartbroken and shattered.

The famous songs were: Sawaar Loon, Ankaheen, Manmarziya

15.Tamasha (2015)



The lead characters Ved and Tara fall in love in a trip to Corsica but they decide to keep their identities hidden. When they return back after a few years she finds him in Delhi but he was no more the same man she met, but he was struggling to find himself in this regular day to day life we lead. Though the story line was very realistic but it didn’t work well for the majority of the audience.

The famous songs were: Agar tum saath ho, Matargashti

16.Shaandar (2015)

Although the movie had a different look and feel, but the story was very poorly written. It’s about a wedding organizer who bring together the distorted family of the business whose daughter is to be married off and in the meantime many other secrets about the wedding and his second daughter, whom he eventually falls in love with, opens up.
The famous songs were: Gulaabo, Nazdeekiya, Shaam Shandaar.

17.Dilwale (2015)

It is story of two gangsters’ family who are rivals, but whose children fall in love with each other but eventually need to be torn apart. They later meet again and the love rekindles because of their siblings, who too are in love with each other. Well too much of love-hate relationship in the movie.
The famous songs were: Gerua, Janam janam, Manma emotion jaage

18.Roy (2015)



Roy is such a movie that in the middle of watching it, you scratch your head and think why you opted to watch it at all! The movie has very loose story line scattered everywhere, so much that you can’t actually get what the movie was trying to show.

The famous songs were: Sooraj dooba hai, Tu hai ki nahi, Chittiya Kalaiyaan

19.Baar Baar Dekho (2016)

A meaningless movie like this should not be watched! The movie had attractive lead pair, but the storyline was way too unrealistic. A mathematician goes ahead in time and sees all the mistakes he had done and returns back to present and rectifies those mistakes. That’s about how stupid as it could get.
The famous songs were: Kaala Chashma, Teri Khair Mangdi, Nachde ne saare


20.Fitoor (2016)

Fitoor (2016)


Fitoor could have been a better movie had it been made clearer and directed better. It was about a boy who was appointed by the Begum as stable keeper and how he falls in love with her daughter. Begum sends her away and how even when they grow up, their spark and attraction remains the same.

The famous songs are: Pashmina, Yeh fitoor.
