League of Extraordinary Supporting Actors without whom Bollywood would Perish

Lately Bollywood has seen a host of talented actors who are happy to ‘support’ the lead actors and actresses. They are the exceptional lot who make the story come alive with their performances. This league of extraordinary actors in the current milieu is the talked-about performers who can do anything to take the movie a notch higher than it already is.

From a Nil Battey Sannata to a Bareilly ki Barfi to a Newton and Fukrey, Pankaj Tripathi is one actor who can essay the role of almost everyone. He can be a father next-door, an Army captain who is completely disillusioned with the farce known as democracy, or a ruthless mafia. It is not easy to essay apparently-so-easy-but-difficult roles, but being a method actor, Pankaj Tripathi makes it look absolutely effortless.

It was only a few years ago that Rajesh Sharma was just another actor in the Bengali film industry. But talent is not easy to hide and Rajesh soon went to Bollywood. And today he has a number of memorable roles in his kitty. From a cop who suffers from great dilemma in No One Killed Jessica, to a prison inmate in Lucknow Central to a con man in Ghanchakkar, to a sensible Pakistani officer in Bajrangi Bhaijan, Rajesh has solidified his position in Bollywood. He is probably one of the most sought-after actors in Bollywood right now and his fans now expect another Special 26 or a Begam Jaan from his kitty.

The most underrated and underutilized actor in recent times has been Sanjay Mishra. People may remember him in Golmal series, but the comedy movie does not do justice to his talent. His latest venture is Kadwi Hawa, but the actor has started working in Bollywood many years ago. One of his earlier ventures was Dil Se. Sanjay has been known for his comic roles in Welcome and Golmaal, but when one is talking about mettle, one has to mention Masaan and Kadvi Hawa.

Who can forget Deepak Dobriyal from Tanu weds Manu series? His recent venture with Irrfan Khan in Hindi Medium has been the talk of the town for all the good reasons. Extremely underrated, this actor has earned his success in Bollywood through sheer hard work. And in Hindi Medium too he had hold his ground beside Irrfan Khan.

Let’s talk about the ladies who have made headlines in recent times. Exceptionally talented Tillotama Shome has made her mark in every film she has done. A Death in the Gunj was no exception. Her portrayal of a distressed mother was truthful, but her hurtful attitude towards Shutu was a bit harsh at times. She has been seen in several short films in recent times.

Seema Pahwas was best remembered for her role in Buniyaad till now. Whether it is a Bareilly ki Barfi or a Shubh Mangal Sabdhan, this doting mother will be always remembered for her multi-layered and textured roles.
