There are probably thousands of new faces in Bollywood every day, but only a few make it to the top. And then there are others who simply fade away in oblivion after one big hit. They are the 1-fim wonders of Bollywood who had one single super duper hit in their kitty. Let’s talk about those movie stars who are considered as the one-film wonders of Bollywood.
We have to begin with Bhagyashree who rose to fame as the syrupy-voiced sanskaari girl who can never go against her father for the love of her life. Of course, Maine Pyar Kiya was an iconic movie in many ways, but mostly it celebrated the fresh young pair of Bhagyashree and Salman Khan. People wanted to see more of her, but unfortunately, she imposed a condition that she will not act in any movie without her husband.
There is another girl who became a household name after one of the biggest hits of the 90’s Ashiqui. Anu Agarwal was the talk of the town after the film released. Unfortunately, the pair could not recreate their magic on screen post Ashiqui. And after a few insignificant movies, she simply shifted outside India. The same could be said for her on-screen boyfriend Rahul Roy.
When Sandali Sinha debuted with Anubhab Sinha’s Tum Bin, she seemed extremely promising. Her simplicity has struck a chord with everyone, especially the men, but somehow she could not recreate the same kind of impact with her other films. She simply disappeared after this movie.
Not all girls can have a dream debut opposite Shahrukh Khan. But Gayatri Joshi did have everything. Her shy smile and emotive eyes were her assets. Unfortunately, we could only see her in one movie and post Swadesh, we could not even trace Gayatri.
An entrant of the Kapoor khandan, Rajiv Kapoor promised big things, but everything fall flat post Ram Teri Ganga Maili Ho Gayi. He struck jackpot with this film, but his fame was extremely short-lived.
It is difficult for many of us to forget the innocent-eyed Jugal Hansraj in Masoon. He played the illegitimate child in Naseeruddin Shah-Shabana starrer superhit movie. Directors tried to launch him, once he grew up, but he could not match his previous standards.
