“Bollywood” this word means different to different people. It is also said that the “Bollywood” is the reflection of our society. It produces about 1000 films in a year. Which makes it the number one industry in the world in making movies.
When I hear ‘Bollywood’ the things that come in my mind are “Amitabh ka wo Mere paas Maa hai, Shahrukh ka wo palat, Salman’s six pack , Aamir’s perfectionism, Akshay’s Comic timing and the sizzling Madhuri’a Dhak Dhak”. Bollywood has so much to offer. A typical Bollywood movie contains a peppy Music, Groovy Dancing moves, a bit of Drama and jaw dropping Dialogues with great action sequences. It is a complete 3 hour package of entertainment.
We often talk about actors , actress, music and all but most of the time we forget about the makers. The one who has made the movie possible ‘The production houses’. There are many production houses in Bollywood. Different houses make different movies, they have their own genre of movies.
One of them is Rajshree . It is run by Barjatya’s. It was founded in 1947 by Tarachand Barjatya.
In initial years of the starting, production house has made some critically acclaimed and commercially successful movies. Popular Movies like Saaransh , Geet Gaata chal and Chitchor has been made by Rajshree production house.
But as the time passed their content oriented movies too started to fade away. At that time they were more focused on creating family movies, A movie which a family can watch together. That’s the only reason I think they created movies like “Hum saath saath hai,Hum aapke hai kaun,Vivaah and many more .” All of the movies were so Sanskari and Alok nath was their too to guide others about the sanskaar.
In today’s time their movies are considered too ‘Sanskari’ . Their movies mostly had a grand set , a big joint family and our sanskari Alok nath to do the “Kanyadaan”. Well jokes apart but their movies were loved by the audience and they are still many people’s favourite.
*Do we need Rajshree movies in today’s time?*
They were good I mean they were entertaining and gave us a happy feel when we finished watching the movies. I mean how can you hate “Prem”? But it seems like today’s generation has become too choosy regarding the content of film. They want more content oriented movies.
Success of movies like Hindi Medium , Queen has proved the point that people want more content based cinema. But the success of movies like ‘Judwaa 2’ and ‘prem ratan dhan payo’ shows that a good entertaining movie in a year or in six months Is not a bad idea at all too.
Audience can have a Barjatya/Rajshree movie in a year two. They are going to watch it because Indians love family dramas.
So In the end I think people are going more for content based cinema and they don’t wait for a Rajshree movie the way they used to do in past.
