Owing to the sequel era that we are living in, the idea for a sequel to 1995’s Jumanji was long due and the latest venture was definitely an awaited movie. Director Jake Kasdan adapted the script from Chris Van Allsburg’s story of a haunted game board, which brings its magical threats when anyone attempts to play it.
The story revolves around a group of four high school kids discovering an old video game console and gets pulled into the game’s jungle setting. The 1995 Jumanji featured a young boy who was sucked into a board game and no one believed his friend Sarah when she tried to explain the powerful threat the game posed. After many years when the game was discovered again by two young children, the story again starts with the home bound journey of the long-lost boy followed by a bunch of mischievous monkeys, carnivorous plants and a big game hunter. In order to stop the madness, the four players now has to complete the game and undo its spell on their lives.
In Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the movie was not concentrated within a particular arena; instead the four teenagers were sucked into a make belief jungle, where they assume the video game avatars/characters of the video games with some really dangerous threats.
Charming actors like Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillian and Kevin Hart made Jumanji a star-studded treat for cine lovers. The chemistry between the lead cast came out really well and the script was well written giving all the characters enough space to shine. Dwayne Johnson’s younger persona Spencer is a nerdy guy, who was always afraid of life and lead a very sheltered life . When he got into the game, he takes on the hunk avatar of Johnson. It has always been a delight to watch Rock on big screen and he did not disappoint us this time either. The same goes for Jack Black who was a self-absorbed, social media addict teenage girl, Bethany, and the transformation was hilarious. The characters of Gillian and Hart turned into a total opposite avatar after they entered the game.
This entire body switch was done to add the hilarious note of the film making the 2 hours run time a fun time. Jumanji : Welcome to the Jungle is a movie worth your time and money with the beautiful star cast and a thrilling adventure quotient. This weekend have a good time at your nearest theatre with your friends and family watching Jumanji.
