Siddharth Malhotra seems to be miffed with Padman Akshay Kumar. Reason? All this while, you have been planning to avoid one competitor in various junctures but it seems that you are still destined for a Box Office clash.
The Republic Day weekend was slotted for the release of both Akshay-starrer Padman and Siddharth Malhotra-starrer Aiyaary. Realizing that the weekend would be too crowded, Aiyaary was shifted to February 9th. But it seems that in a strange twist of fate, Padman has also decided to shift to the same date with another inevitable clash. It seems that Akshay being a little skeptical about the fate of his movie against the magnum opus of Sanjay Leela Bansali decided to play safe. The decision has irked everyone in Team Aiyaary, especially Siddharth Malhotra who is extremely keen to have a hit in his kitty in 2018.
Siddharth and Akshay who had previously acted together in Brothers shared a nice camaraderie. But lately, with all these Box Office clashes, Siddharth is a bit upset which he expressed earlier on Twitter. In a recent interview, he has vented his frustration subtly by stating ‘we were being gracious enough and moving forward for an easy and solo release, so that more people could see our film. It was more of a production call, and rightfully so, as numbers are affected in a way’.
Also, in a light-hearted banter he also mentioned that ‘Team Padman has immense love for Team Aiyaary and wants to latch on any date that we come on and they are just not letting go’. Now, that the two movies are again destined to meet each other in the Box Office on the same date, Siddharth feels that his film has enough mettle to do well. Although the release date of Aiyaary was announced first, Siddharth feels that now that Padman is releasing on the same day, nothing can be done, except to wait for the audience response.
