Techniques that are newly used in Bollywood Movies

Bollywood has churned out blockbusters year after year. It is not easy to find out an industry which has evolved so much over the years. Although Bollywood has to travel a long way to be at par with Hollywood in terms of technology, there are films which show glimpses of brilliance in terms of scientific and marketing techniques. Let’s talk about 4 films which have used new mention-worthy techniques.

A popular technology that is being used frequently these days in Bollywood is the VFX technology. This unique technology allows filmmakers to create realistic backgrounds for movies. Often filmmakers decide to shoot inside the studios, and not on location to save expenses. This technology is often combined with other elements to create a realistic effect. For instance, in one particular scene, dry leaves were blown over a parked red jeep. The rest of the effect and settings were created by VFX.

Facial performance capture was first used in the movie Kochdaiiyan which has used 3D motion capture to portray the protagonist. This is one of the techniques which is known to have huge potential.

The effects of CGI were first known in the movie Mughal-e-Azam. Computer generated graphics or CGI is a special type of virtual effect; they can generate an effect out of thin air and show something which is absolutely different from what a normal scene would look like. This technique also allows the film makers to create or recreate a scene which was completely impossible to create in real life. One such instance would be the battle scene of Mughal-e-Azam.

From the technology to the marketing, Bollywood has recently adopted many unique promotional strategies to promote films. Shahrukh Khan for instance left no stone unturned to promote his superhero movie Ra. One. It was the digital marketing strategy of the movie which was talked-about. It was one of the first movies to use gaming and merchandise as part of its promotional strategy. In fact, a game called Ra.One came in the market before the movie was released.

For 3 Idiots, another Khan adopted a subtler method. To promote the movie, he declared that he would go missing, and would leave clues for the audience to find him from this unique hide n seek game. As part of the promotional plan, the actor visited various locations and seven clues were given to the public. And the first clue was given to none other than Sachin Tendulkar.
