Music has always been a pivotal part of cinema soon after the advent of it. Cinema is considered as an illusion on screen and music helps to create the magic on the silver screen. Throughout the past years, we have seen many forms of music used in the movies among which rock music is such a form which has been loved by all. We have lauded rock bands since the very beginning – from The Beatles to Foo Fighters.
Soon many movies were made on rock music which were loved and endured by all. From Hollywood the trend came down to Bollywood and now Tollywood is also following the trend. Tollywood is all set to make a film based on a Rock Band and the makers are all set to break the stereotypical and patriarchal norms of the industry with the movie. The film will be on a female rock band – yes, you read it right. Director Rick Basu is all geared up to make a movie on female rock band which he has already titled ‘RANI’. The movie has Sreya Majumdar, Amrita Chattopadhyay, Arunima Chaudhury and Sneha Ghosh in the lead roles.
‘RANI’ is about four girls, passionate about music forming a rock band, trying to make a mark. The film revolves around the hardships and the ups and downs the girls had to go through in their journey. It is a brave attempt by Rick Basu to script a film that goes against the odds. In a still patriarchal society, it will be very interesting to see how the movie will stand out.
