Most viewed Bollywood kisses

Right from those days when a couple kissing or having sex was depicted by the two flowers abruptly filling up the screen to today when we have all evolved enough to even accept a gay love story in the form of a movie (Dostana), Bollywood has come a long way. It used to happen then, it happens now – just a little more explicitly to put it so.

Here, ten kissing scenes of Bollywood that have been most viewed and liked by the audience.

1.Himanshu Rai & Devika Rani in Karma (1933)

‘The first ever kissing scene of Bolywood.’ A kiss in Bollywood in itself was a taboo to speak of until the late 90s and then, a kiss on the screen in 1933? That takes some guts. The real life couple kissed each other for a good long four minutes for the movie Karma; the rest, as they say, is not history but a lot of youtube views, haha.

2.Shashi Kapoor & Zeenat Amaan in Satyam ShivamSundaram (1978)

Forget 1933, even in the 70’s the audience was not ready to see an explicit scene on screen. They were those days when the whole family would turn awkward in each others’ presence if a couple would even appear to become slightly intimate, and then a kiss!? Hear, hear, the revolutionary duo!

3.Vinod Khanna  & Madhuri Dixit in Dayavan (1988)
The 80s were actually somewhat better but again, nobody had ever expected an ‘act’ out of Madhuri for she was always perceived otherwise. Rules, however, are for losers, yea? Unforgettable, really.

4.Amir Khan  & Karisma Kapoor in Raja Hindustani (1996)
Up until Raja Hindustani, all the other movies that sported a kissing scene were mostly not-to-be-watched-with-family movies. However, Amir Khan, as always, broke off from the general way of things to not only give us a kiss in a family movie but also, a super hit movie to that. Karisma was Amir’s first on-screen but not the last.

5.Kamal Hassan & Rani Mukherjee in Hey Ram (2000)
For some strange unknown reasons, a lot of critics and audiences were stirred by this particular kiss. So much so that Rani even went on record with Filmfare magazine to issue a defensive statement “The kiss with Kamal Hassan was purely mechanical. He was constantly checking the camera angle. So where was the passion.”

6.Himanshu Malik & Mallika Sherawat in Khwahish (2003)
In one if the firsts again, with this particular movie, the duo set a never-before record 17 lip locks in one movie! The record, needless to say, is still intact and untouched.

7.Hrithik Roshan & Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom 2(2006)
This particular kiss shows up when least expected and that possibly is also why it is so sought after. Apparently, Big B was a little off due to this venture by Aishwarya, as this was during the courtship days of Abhishek and Aish.

8.Emraan Hashmi & Tanushree Dutta in Murder 2 (2011)
Talking about kissing, well, Emraan Hashmi anyone? This man, with his passion and energy teamed with the guidance of Mr. Mahesh Bhatt, broke all hell lose with Murder 2. That day and this, mention this name to anyone, a wicked creepy smile is guaranteed. Everyone knows he is the man!

9.Ranbir Kapoor & Nargis Fakhri in Rockstar (2011)
Not just the kiss but Jordan’s (Ranbir) love for Heer (Nargis) was extremely passionate and fiery in this one. The self-destructing success story of a man who was head over heels for Heer, the kiss was not just welcoming but very warm and authentic to speak of. Good job, RK and Imtiaz!

10.Shah Rukh Khan & Katrina Kaif in Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012)
This one was SRK’s first on-screen. The pairing of these two in itself had created quite a buzz due to the unacceptability of a couple with such age difference falling in love with each other. However, as history has it, they did quite set the screen on fire, all for the audience to remember Jab Tak Hai Jaan!
